What a Bitcoin round trip costs from New Zealand
Four charges sit between your bank account and a bet, and only one of them belongs to the casino.
- The exchange spread on the way in. Buying BTC with NZD on a New Zealand exchange costs roughly 0.5% to 1.5% depending on which one and how much. Easy Crypto is the simplest for a first purchase; Binance and Kraken are cheaper at size and more work to set up.
- The Bitcoin network fee to deposit. This is the volatile one. On a quiet day it is a couple of dollars; during congestion it has been twenty or more. It does not scale with the amount, which is exactly why it hurts a small deposit and not a large one.
- The withdrawal fee at the casino. Most operators on this page absorb it. Some deduct the network fee from the amount, and the terms are the only place that is written down.

Those are the ranges from the four charges above, not a measurement of one particular day. On NZ$200 the stack runs from about 4% on a quiet network to more than 20% when Bitcoin is congested, and the entire swing is that one flat fee. On NZ$2,000 the same stack is between 1% and 5%. Bitcoin gets cheaper the more you move, which is the opposite of what most people assume when they pick it. When to use something else
